Vintage Vibes is a Big Lottery funded partnership between LifeCare Edinburgh and The Broomhouse Centre and Enterprises. They tackle loneliness and isolation in over-60s across Edinburgh by matching VIPs with Vibes volunteers, to create long-lasting friendships.
How do we create these friendships?
Vintage Vibes match local people together who have shared interests. It could be a love of watching Neighbours, or an addiction to chess – from visiting galleries to petting pooches, Vintage Vibes matches kindred spirit volunteers and VIPs (over 60’s) together.
Less than a year after launching the partnership, Vintage Vibes have created an inspiring total of 90 matches! That’s 180 local people who have come together once a week or once a fortnight for a laugh, and a blether.
Next step for Vintage Vibes
We are planning to create friendship groups based on shared interests – so keep an eye out for the over-60 Trekkie clubs, poker tournaments or maybe even rock bands coming to Edinburgh soon!
